I Want My Soul to Be Quieted

The unbeliever who is ignorant or rejects the comfort that arises from God’s grace
  • has to look for another source of comfort.
  • Nevertheless, the most they can find in this life
  • is some temporary respite from the miserable consequences of sin.
They might be able to amass some wealth,
  • so that they can enjoy some physical comforts, such as a nice home and good food.
  • They do not have the discomfort of being left out in the cold,
  • nor the discomfort of hunger pains.
They might be able to make advancements in medicine,
  • which alleviate some of the pain and suffering which man would otherwise experience.
  • Yet such “comforts” only affect the outward body.
  • The believer, however, enjoys peace of mind.
  • His soul is quieted within him.
