Some Thoughts from a Former Asbury Parent on Kentucky's Asbury Revival

Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.”  John 4:21

  • Will the Asbury revival go down in the history books as more than just another mountaintop experience?

“But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

  • Will the Asbury revival result in a personal revival that enables many to live in the light of God's truths on a daily basis?
  • Will the Asbury revival bring many to greater repentance and a hunger to be "conformed to the image of Christ"?
Fruitful revivals produce:

  • a genuine poverty of spirit that consistently recognizes our own inability and the critical need for God in our lives.
  • a continual mourning over the sin in our lives.  When we sin, there is a godly sorrow that leads to a repentance without regret.
  • meekness - a willingness to be governed by God alone.
  • a quality of brokenness that is clearly visible in our lives.
  • a hunger and thirst for rightness in every realm of our lives - rightness with God, with others, in every situation, circumstance, and decision.
  • mercy toward others and a spirit of forgiveness.
  • purity in heart - pure motives, thinking that is not double-minded.
  • a laying down of other allegiances and affections that we have cherished more than Jesus - a single-minded devotion to Jesus Christ.
Let's pray that the Asbury revival will truly be a fruitful revival that grows into a personal revival for thousands across the nation and the world.
