Covid-19: Permitted But Not Appointed by God

Life is immensely precarious, haphazard.

  • A Christian does not believe that everything that happens is ordained by God;
  • what he believes is that he has to get hold of God’s order
  • no matter what happens in the haphazard.

And we know that to them that love God

  • all things work together for good,
  • even to them that are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

All things are permitted by God,

  • but all things are not appointed by God,
  • they appoint themselves;
  • but God’s order abides,
  • and if I maintain my relationship to Him
  • He will make everything that happens work for my good.

God on the one hand, myself on the other,

  • and the rush of the haphazard in between
  •  will work toward the best.

I took another walk around the neighborhood and realized that on this earth as it is—

The race is not always to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor satisfaction to the wise,
Nor riches to the smart,
Nor grace to the learned.
Sooner or later bad luck hits us all.

No one can predict misfortune.
Like fish caught in a cruel net or birds in a trap,
So men and women are caught
By accidents evil and sudden.

Ecclesiastes 9:11-2 The Message
