To Do His Good and Perfect Will
God's children ask their heavenly Father that they might always do his will.
Q. What does the third petition mean?
"Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" means:
- Help us and all people
- to reject our own wills
- and to obey your will without any back talk.
- Your will alone is good.
- Help us one and all to carry out the work we are called to,
- as willingly and faithfully as the angels in heaven.
For the Bible Tells Me So...
Matthew 7:21 — Not every one who says to me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of
my Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 16:24 — Then Jesus told his disciples, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross
and follow me."
Luke 22:42 — "Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Psalm 103:20, 21 — Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word!
Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will.
