The Lord's Prayer: "Our Father Who Art in Heaven"

To my Father I need to give even more than just reverence, trust is also needed.

  • I may know Him and revere him, but how do I know that He will help me and embrace me?
  • I know it through Jesus Christ.
  • It is through my Savior that I become a child of God.
He sent the Holy Spirit into my heart and it is the Spirit who has lifted the scales of unbelief and superstition from my eyes and heart and mind and mouth.

  • I, who became a stranger am able to say, "Abba Father" (Galatians 4:6).
  • I, the natural child of God who became a rebellious and estranged child, have through the great Son, become a true and complete child.
  • Christ Jesus has caused me to be adopted by Him.
It is because of this new standing before God that I may call Him "Father" and know that it is for real.

  • He is both able and willing to help me.
  • I am not deceiving myself when I claim His promises and call upon Him for help.
  • He will grant it surely.
  • My new status assures me of a hearing and an answer.
To be continued...
